The following information is from a Department of Environmental Protection agent in Tallahassee.
The sandhill crane is protected by both the Federal Goverment and the State of Florida. Apparently the Florida crane is a subspecies and is currently listed as ‘threatened’ in Florida. I believe that threatening them is a misdemeanor. Here’s a number for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, 561-625-5122. I think the Florida subspecies is also protected under the Feds as it is listed as “endangered.” Here’s the number for the Fish and Wildlife Service in your county, 561-732-3684.
Today, on 75th Ave. North, we witnessed a white male driving a silver compact (maybe a Nissan or similar), with loud rap music playing. Three sandhill cranes were crossing the street and this car narrowly missed hitting two of them!! He had no intention of slowing or stopping for them!!
As a reminder, please please please slow down and stop for these birds when they are crossing the street. Please let your neighbors know also, especially if they have young drivers in their household.

Crime Report Stats January 2012 - February 2012
After months of very light crime in the two communities it has picked up big time in January. In Jupiter Farms a lot of it was at night. We don’t have enough people to cover that much at night. If you would like to help by joining COP please contact me, Frances Mullane mullanef@bellsouth.net
Please pass this info around to everyone in JF or PBCE who is on your e-mail lists… if everyone is watching it will help stop this before it really gets out of hand.
Also be careful with your cars in Riverbend Park parking lot and there have been issues of vandalism in the Publix parking lot also… last weekend… Everyone needs to watch out for each other… If you see something you don’t like… call 911.. that is what the deputies are for.

Burglary Residence – 01-03-12, 12:00 to 01-12-12, 11:30, 118th & 165th Rd. N. Caretaker found sliding glass door pried open. A/C coil, water system pump, pool pump, 5 ceiling fans taken.
Burglary Residence – 01-15-12, 22:00 to 01-26-12, 09:00, 121st & 188th St. N. Entry made through an unlocked garage door, forced entry to interior garage door to the residence. Five dogs inside deterred the suspect from entering the residence.
Burglary Residence – 01-14-12 20:10 to 21:30, 116th & 152nd St. N. Sliding glass door shattered master bedroom ransacked jewelry taken.
Stolen Vehicle – 01-13-12 05:30 to 22:30, 124th & 175th Rd. N. A golf cart was stolen and recovered in front of neighbor’s residence.
Burglary Residence – 01-03-12 08:30 to 21:00, 175th & Bridle Ct. Victim stated that her gun and necklace were stolen. Suspect possibly ex boyfriend. Rear sliding glass door usually left open for her father that lives with her.
Burglary Residence – 01-20-12 08:00 to 14:00 168th &Mellen Ln. Suspect entered through the garage that was unlocked jewelry an change taken.
Burglary Residence – 01-27-12 19:30 to 22:36, 103rd & 157th St. N. Entry through open bedroom window on the West side, $380.00 was taken.
Burglary Residence – 01-31-12 unk. time 122nd & 174th No information
Burglary Residence – 01-30-12 unk. time 152nd & 93rd No information
Burglary Residence – 01-30-12 09:00 to 12:00, 156th & 95th Ave. N. Sliding glass door to master bedroom shattered, jewelry and cash taken.
Burglary Residence – 01-30-12 12:31 98th & 150th Ct. N. Alarm company called in reference to a glass break. Due to false alarms Victim refused to notifying the Sheriff’s Office. Victim found the rear sliding glass door to the master bedroom shattered. Nothing appeared to be taken possibly alarm scared suspects off.
Burglary Vehicle – 01-31-12 24:00 to 02-05-12 17:30, 95th & 171st St. N. Mercury boat motor taken from boat in the back yard.
Stolen Vehicle – 02-05-12 01:00 to 10:30 178th & 133rd Trl. N. Yellow Suzuki 650 motorcycle taken from the drive way, all other vehicles had one tire flat.

Burglary Residence – 01-16-12 24;15 152nd & 83rd Way N. A domestic turned into a burglary when one subject entered the residence and struck the victim.
Burglary Business – 01-12-12 18:45 to 01-13-12 06:30 179th & 103rd Terr. N. ABC Montessori. Suspect removed the screen and window reached in and unlocked the door. A wooden lock box was removed from the wall $1500.00 was taken, checks were left behind.
Burglary Residence – 01-17-12 07:30 to 16:30 148th & 66th Trl. N. Entry through rear kitchen window, jewelry and handgun taken.
Burglary Residence – 01-23-12 09:00 to 19:30 156th & 83rd Way N. Rear door pried open nothing appeared to be taken.
Burglary Residence -01-23-12 11:00 to 14:00 156th & 83rd Way N. Window broken on the North side of the residence, nothing appeared to be taken.
Stolen Vehicle – 01-23-12 18:58 to 01-24-12 21:23 158th & 84th Ave. N. Truck and trailer with lawn equipment on it was taken, keys were left on the floor.
